Grooming the Bichon Frise

A well-groomed Bichon Frise is truly irresistable--but does require some effort and patience on the part of the both pet and owner.  A puppy should be introduced to short, frequent, stress-free grooming sessions when he is very young, which are followed by lots of praise and cuddles from his owner.

At 10-11 weeks, most puppies go through a vigorous chewing stage.  This is a good time to introduce him to the finger toothbrush.   It is a soft rubber brush that slips over your finger, and is used to clean the puppy's teeth.  Once he is acclimated to the finger brush, you can begin to use a regular brush for his oral hygiene.
