The Cavachon is a popular hybrid breed resulting from the mating of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and a Bichon Frise. Cavachons are fluffy, low shedding, hypoallergenic little dogs that have both the angelic eyes of the Bichon Frise, and the irresistable "Lady and the Tramp" face and markings of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The Cavachon's temperament reflects the sweet, friendly, non-agressive and intelligent nature that is the hallmark of both breeds.
As a result of hybridization, Cavachons posess what is known as "hybrid vigor"--a genetic health advantage over pure bred dogs. Simply stated, a hybrid of two purebred dogs of different breeds will carry less risk for recessive inherited genetic health problems than a purebred dog.
Our Cavachons are bred for health, appearance and temperament, and are the offspring of AKC registered Bichon Frises and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels in the F1 generation. We do not breed Cavachons to Cavachons, because in the F2 and subsequent generations, there is a substantial loss of hybrid vigor and consistency of appearance. Our Cavachon puppies are elgible for registry with the American Canine Hybrid Club, which recognizes the Cavachon as a hybrid breed only when they are the direct offspring of two purebred dogs. Because Cavachons are a hybrid breed, they are not elgible for registry with the AKC which recognizes only pure bred dogs.
