From time to time, we have older puppies who are available at reduced pricing. These puppies have been well socialized with people and other puppies, have completed their series of four puppy shots, and generally crate train a little more quickly than our 10 week old puppies will, due to the fact that they are more mature, and have learned to use a doggie door to go out to toilet, which is a good precursor for crate training.
Some people find that an older puppy is a better choice for them, especially if they are looking to add a "playmate" to their family for a current pet, if their lifestyle doesn't allow them the flexibility to be home during the day to crate train a younger puppy, or if they just want to avoid certain stages that all younger puppies go through.
